Jack Ryan has been a staple in the lives of those who adore political thrillers and action-oriented content since Tom Clancy introduced the world to the CIA agent in 1984. It's been 40 years since The Hunt for Red October was published and Jack has become a household name many times over. First through Clancy's writing then through the films and finally TV with Prime Video's adaptation starring John Krasinski as this generation's Jack.
We'll be returning to the CIA operative's adventures on-screen sometime in the future as a movie centered on the streaming iteration's world has been announced. But, if you're looking to tune into stories similar to Jack's to tide you over then we have you covered! Officially titled Special Ops: Lioness, the series stars Zoe Saldaña as Joe, a CIA intelligence officer in charge of the Lioness program. The women recruited to the operation go undercover to gather intel for the U.S. Military. In the first season, Marine Raider Cruz Manuelos is enlisted to help thwart what the CIA is concerned is the next 9/11. Season 2 is currently streaming new episodes every Sunday. The finale releases on Dec. 8.
Condor
Streamer: MGM+ and AMC+ (only season 1)
In Condor, the story follows Joe Turner, a millennial idealistic enough to think that he'll be able to reform the CIA from within. However, when he comes across a secret that puts millions of lives in danger, he finds himself in immense danger, the kind that leads to professional killers murdering everyone in his office. Now a target, and on the run, Joe must contend with the full weight of the military-industrial complex's most dangerous elements going up against him.
The thriller currently has two seasons. A third was greenlit back in 2022 but there's been no word on if it's still moving forward.
The Night Agent

When FBI agent Peter Sutherland is assigned to the Night Action telephone line at the White House, it's not exactly what he had in mind when he thought of the work he'd be doing with the Bureau. However, one phone call changes everything in The Night Agent. Suddenly, Peter's out from behind his desk trying to get to the bottom of a conspiracy tied to a mole that's managed to work their way up to the highest levels of the government. In order to keep the country safe, he must go on the hunt for the traitor while also protecting Rose Larkin, a former tech CEO whose aunt and uncle were murdered due to their knowledge of the situation.
Season 2 is expected to release on Thursday, Jan. 23.
The Recruit

Owen Hendricks is a lawyer and a newly minted member of the CIA but in this life there's no such thing as easing into the job. He's thrown into the thick of things when an asset from Easter European pushes for release from prison. She threatens extortion in order to get what she wants and, as Owen learns more about her, he finds himself getting entangled in international politics. This is not a desk job and negotiating with the asset lands him in front of menacing and very dangerous people. Still, he needs to fulfill his duties even if it's at great risk to his own life.
Season 2 of The Recruit is expect to release in 2025.
