The end of the year is fast approaching and, while we're not rushing the holidays, our minds are on what the streamers have in store for us come the new year. One platform that continues to broaden its offerings is Disney+.
Due to its global reach, the streamer has international offerings that have captured the attention of its audience. For US residents (without Hulu on Disney+) that has typically meant international Disney+ offerings land on Hulu but, regardless of how you tune in, the House of Mouse has great television series at the ready. This remains the case for 2025.
If you're someone who loves a good Korean drama and crime show, then you're in luck because there are seven slated for the service next year, three of which are historical/period dramas. Here's what you need to know about each title!
Korean shows to watch on Disney+ (2025)
Unmasked
Cast: Kim Hye-soo, Jung Sung-il, and Joo Jong-hyuk
In Unmasked, a team of journalist band together to investigate the disappearance of a famous actor. The task is a dangerous one that's full of deceit as they work to uncover the truth of what happened and seek justice. No strangers to reporting on such cases, these journalist know what's at stake but they're diving into a 20 year old cold case so expect twists and turns.
The Murky Stream
Cast: Rowoon, Shin Yeeun, Park Seoham, Park Jihwan
This historical drama, which takes place during the Joseon Dynasty, is set during a time when lawlessness reigned supreme and society was just as murky as the river that was once clear and pure. The Murky Stream follows Jung Chun, an officer who has an idyllic view of the world, Choi Eun, who's considered a beacon of wisdom, and Jang Siyul, a gangster with a hidden, dark past.
Knock-Off
Cast: Kim Soo-hyun and Cho Bo-ah
Set in 1997 during the Asian financial crisis, Knock-Off centers on Sung-jun, a young man who becomes destitute when the economy crashes. In order to turn his life around, he picks up the counterfeit trade. Sung-jun finds success in this illegal market but there are both moral and personal consequences to the life that he's chosen to lead.
Nine Puzzles
Cast: Kim Da-mi and Son Suk-ku
When profiler Yoon Ena is put on the case in Nine Puzzles, it brings up her traumatic past. She and Kim Hanseam, a detective whose a skeptic, are partnered together in an investigation to stop a serial killer who loves to play games with those attempting to stop him. He uses puzzles as a means of toying with investigators and it'll be up to these two to solve them before he kills more people.
Made in Korea
Cast: Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung
Let Made in Korea transport you to the 1970s as Kitae amasses more influence. He's a man driven by his ambition and an insatiable greed that puts him on the radar of Geonyoung. The prosecutor is determined to bring Kitae down but their clash will have life-altering repercussions the kind that are set to define the decade they live in.
Tempest
Cast: Jun Gianna, Gang Dong-won, John Cho, and Christopher Gorham
Tempest is an international thriller billed as appealing to both Korean and Western audiences. The series follows an agent and a diplomat who must team up together to seek out the truth regarding an attack that's set to be launched against the Korean peninsula. Buckle up for geopolitical intrigue and action with this title as the pair at its heart race to stop a tragedy.
The Manipulated
Cast: Ji Chang-wook and Doh Kyung-soo
Wrongful imprisonment is the catalyst for the events that unfold on The Manipulated. When Taejung finds out that he was framed for a heinous crime by the mysterious Yohan, he decides to get retribution. Yohan orchestrated his downfall and now it's Taejung's to return the favor in a series that's intensely action-packed and deals with the psychological impact of Yohan's deeds.
