Paris Has Fallen, the French action thriller that made its premiere in September, is finally making its way Stateside with a release on Hulu. The series is adapted from the popular Has Fallen film universe but its focus is on Vincent, who is a protection officer, and the M16 agent Zara. They're tasked with bringing down a terrorist group that's led by Jacob Pearce and that's targeting the French Minister of Defense.
However, as events begin to unfold, Vincent and Zara come to realize that the group's dark mission is about more than one politician. There's also the issue of a potential mole in the security services as Pearce seems to know their plans when he shouldn't. Rightfully suspicious and not knowing who among them they can trust, Zara and Vincent are forced to rely more and more on their partnership in order to stop the terrorists from executing their mission. If they can't, if Pearce is able to enact revenge for a past wrong, Paris will fall.
Paris Has Fallen is an action-packed, eight episode ride. It also inhabits a well established universe but that doesn't mean you'll need to watch the Has Fallen film series in order to enjoy its story. The show is a standalone entry in the franchise but Gerard Butler is attached to the project as an executive producer.
Like its predecessors, which were rated R, the show is for mature audiences (TV-MA). The violence throughout the series is graphic in nature and can be frightening as well as intense. There's also strong language. This thriller isn't for the whole family but if you're looking for a plot you can sink your teeth into and good action sequences, this is the program for you.
As the trailer shows, Paris Has Fallen's villain isn't mustache twirly. Pearce isn't terrorizing the city just to see the world burn, for money, or ideaology. He's a captain and a soldier in the French foreign legion. This vengeful crusade he's on is due to all of his men being murdered for political and financial gain. A motivation like that makes him a dangerous entity, one who can't be bought or persuaded as he sees himself as carrying out a just cause. Prepare to be gripped by this story!
All eight episodes of Paris Has Fallen begin streaming Dec. 6 on Hulu.
