Law and Order is airing its first crossover early in the season. Mariska Hargitay is making the jump to the flagship for season 24, episode 2, "The Perfect Man." This is the AI dating app episode that Maura Tierney teased when previewing what fans can expect from her character, Lt. Jessica Brady.

The actress shared that Brady and Benson wouldn't be seeing eye-to-eye on a legal matter during the case and that it would cause problems between the two who she wouldn't describe as "besties." But, based on the promo and synopsis that have been released for the episode, Benson is going to have more than one person that she's going to be rubbing the wrong way with her stance.

The case in "The Perfect Man" centers on the murder of a man who founded an AI-infused dating app. Shaw and Riley have been tasked with finding the person responsible for killing him but when it's revealed that the victim was love obsessed, the situation becomes complicated.

Benson believes the woman on trial is a victim of the man's obsession, that's why she's a witness for the defense much to the surprise of Price and Maroun. As she says on the stand, the man who was killed was stalking the defendant. Price, obviously flabbergasted in his scenes, can't believe the position Benson is taking. The deceased supposedly never threatened her and he makes a fair point, you don't get to shoot someone who has a crush on you, but it's got to be deeper than that.

As our sister site Hidden Remote previously reported, joining Hargitay in this episode is Elizabeth Marvel, reprising the role of Defense Attorney Rita Calhoun. Presumably, she's going to be representing the defendant. Calhoun is a morally grey character in the franchise so it'll be interesting to hear what she thinks about this situation. She's a skillful attorney who doesn't shy away from representing people she knows are guilty of the crime they're being accused of, she's the kind of lawyer who does her best no matter the circumstance.

With "The Perfect Man" opening a discussion about AI in the dating world, we should be in for an episode that probes at how far is too far when it comes to artificial intelligence and the ways it's used. This will likely be an odd ball case on Law and Order but a thought provoking one as well.
