Season 2 of The Diplomat is coming to Netflix at the end of October and will finally answer the burning questions everyone has had since the fiery season one finale. While the question has remained whether multiple characters survived a car bombing, at least two characters are hinted to be alive, one thanks to the teaser trailer for season 2. Here’s what we know so far about the second season.

The show, which follows Keri Russell’s Kate Wyler as the US Ambassador to the UK, will continue to focus on the investigation into the attack of an aircraft carrier that appears to have been the work of someone in the UK government.

In the season one finale, Kate discovered Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge was very likely the person involved in the attack. How can she investigate someone who should be an ally? Plus, with the knowledge that the show will explore her dynamic with British Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison, who was with Kate as she figured out Trowbridge was behind the attack, there is certain to be some fun character journeys to explore.

Dennison may not know about Trowbridge's plan, but with so much at stake, Kate may have a hard time trusting him and it will be interesting to watch once season 2 begins.

This investigation will be dicey for Kate to look into, especially since she is also being looked at as a potential replacement for the current US Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney). It was teased in an interview with show creator Debora Cahn that as for the Vice President, she felt Kate was coming to take her job, which was mostly true since Kate is a contender, while Kate has a misunderstanding about Penn herself.

So this will be a great match to watch and see if the two women can eventually see eye to eye, depending on what happens during the season. We did get a glimpse of their interaction in the teaser trailer, which showed the two women looking at one another, as Kate was arm-in-arm with her husband, Hal (Rufus Sewell).

Hal was one of the victims of the car explosion that left fans wondering about his fate. Luckily, it appears he was unharmed, however, who knows what the emotional toll of surviving this has for him. Plus, there are photos from the new season that show another victim, Kate’s US Deputy of Mission Stuart Hayford, survived.

This still leaves in question whether or not the other two victims, Ronnie the office clerk, and MP Merritt Grove survived as well. All of these questions will be answered once season 2 begins.

All six episodes of season 2 will drop on Netflix on Oct. 31.
