Law and Order Thursdays start back up this week but don't expect Law and Order: Organized Crime to be sliding into its usual 10 p.m. ET slot on NBC. No, this isn't because the procedural has been held until the midseason. Stabler's show isn't coming to the network in 2025 with a new season. In fact, it's not coming back to broadcast at all. But don't fret! It's not because the series has been canceled.

As cancellation season for network TV began to wind down, word started flying that NBCUniversal had plans to move the show to Peacock. By May these plans cemented and it was announced that season 5 would mark the procedural's transition to being a streaming original. This is why NBC will be running Found season 2 in the time slot that had previously been held by Organized Crime.

Work on season 5 of the show is currently underway. There's been much excitement about the confirmation that Olivia Benson will be crossing over to the procedural for episode 2, giving fans the Stabler-Benson reunion they've been craving. The episode is also being written by Christopher Meloni himself. He teased the following, according to People:

"I'm going to have an opportunity to... I don't know. I'll tell you what. Hopefully, uncover, peel away a little bit more of the onion or uncover a little more depth of feeling between them."

Hopefully, this means one of TV's longest "will they or won't they" duos finally makes the kind of progress that shippers have been waiting for. Currently, it's unknown when Law and Order: Organized Crime will make its season 5 premiere. We're also still in the dark on whether or not Stabler will pop up on Law and Order: SVU but Benson's going to be busy.

Mariska Hargitay isn't just scheduled to make an appearance on Organized Crime, she's set to work on a case in Law and Order season 24 episode 2 as well. It'll see her clashing with the new lieutenant, Jessica Grady, played by Maura Tierney. The strong-willed justice seekers won't see eye-to-eye on how to handle a legal matter that crops up during a case about an AI dating app. Expect this murder investigation to be a weird one since it involves love via artificial intelligence.

Law and Order Thursdays kick off Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Next day streaming will be available on Peacock. We'll keep you posted on Law and Order: Organized Crime's release. Stay tuned to Americans Uncover.
