The Agency looks to be a hot new upcoming spy thriller and here's what we know so far about the Showtime thriller!

Showtime has a good history with spy thrillers going back to the Emmy-award-winning hit Homeland. It's continued with other shows and their new partnership with Paramount+ seems to be adding to it. It's likely going to continue as The Agency seems set to be another prime thriller for the network!

Written and produced by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth with Joe Wright as an executive producer, the limited series is coming to the network soon so here's what to know!

What is The Agency about?

Based on the French series Le Bureau des Legendes, the show focuses on "Martian," a veteran undercover operative who's specialized for years in covert missions for the CIA. They've often involved Martian spending years living alternate identities to the point he's almost forgotten who he truly is.

Martian is thus thrown when his bosses order him to drop his assignments and return to London. That leads to a reunion with a former love and a new mission that challenges Martian to understand his true identity.

"Martian, a covert CIA agent, ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage."

Who stars in The Agency?

The cast for the series is pretty top-notch. Michael Fassbender makes a rare TV appearance as Martian and the acclaimed actor looks set to show off his action chops here. Jodie Turner-Smith, who recently starred in The Acolyte and Bad Monkey, plays Sami, Martian's love.

Richard Gere plays Bosko, the agency chief and Martian's mentor, while Emmy winner Jeffrey Wright is Henry. James Bonneville and Katherine Waterson also star, and Variety reports Dominic West has just joined as the chief of the CIA. With such a high-powered cast, the show is building up some great acting power.
