Action junkies have a thriller to look forward to this Christmas season thanks to Netflix's Carry-On, a film that puts Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman in the driver's seat of a plot unfolding in an airport. Egerton plays Ethan Kopek, a transportation security officer (TSO) for the TSA who is bummed he and his girlfriend Nora Osorio are working Christmas Eve but who is nonetheless making the most of it since he loves Christmas.

As the trailer for the movie shows, it's a typical day at the airport. Passengers are coming and going, trying to get home to family, and complaining about body sweeps and the like. That is, until one passenger says that the item in a bin that was scanned doesn't belong to her. It turns out to be an earpiece and from there Ethan's day spins out of control.

Bateman plays the mysterious traveler who assures Ethan that everything will be alright as long as he listens to what he says and follows instructions. If he doesn't, Nora will die. The TSO is supposed to clear a bag for the traveler brought through by an associate, but Ethan doesn't do as he's told. He calls 9-1-1, tracks Nora down himself to try to save her, and in doing so angers the traveler.

Whatever Bateman's character is up to, it's a high stakes situation and people no one is exempt from being killed. A man is murdered by him when Ethan disobeys. But the TSO is determined to stop the traveler and even faces off with him. Will Ethan keep everyone in the airport from falling victim to Bateman's character? That's the question that the Carry-On trailer leaves us asking as it entices us to tune in when the film premieres on December 13.

The movie is part of a good end of the year line-up for Netflix which will also feature the spy thriller Black Doves starring Keira Knightley and the Tyler Perry war drama Six Triple Eight. For those who want to keep their watch list Christmas themed there's the animated family film That Christmas and the highly anticipated special A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Spencer.
