Thanksgiving is upon us! For many Americans, it's a time full of community, family, and good eats. Whether you're someone who throws down in the kitchen or you're a couch surfer watching the football game and socializing, the holiday is made for spending time with the ones you love.
Along with a delicious meal, there's usually a movie or two on as well. Here at Americans Undercover, we're all about mysterious government operatives and action-packed titles, so our pick for what to settle in to watch after A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is both heart-warming and full of the thrills that we love to indulge in. If you're looking to watch something out of the norm during the holiday then we suggest Spy x Family CODE: White!
This animated movie is delightful. While it would help to have some knowledge of the anime Spy x Family to understand the motivations of the characters in the film, it's so good that going in blind really shouldn't be a deterrent.
We join the Forgers while they are on vacation in the country of Frigis. You'd think spending time in the snowy locale would be all about the family getting to bond but it's actually imperative that Loid's objective is met while they're away. See, he's a spy who is going to be assigned to a different mission unless he makes progress on using Anya's school, Eden Academy, as a means of gathering intel for the agency, WISE. How does he plan on doing this? By helping his daughter make the director's favorite meal so she can win the cooking competition that's going to be held by the school.
It wouldn't be Spy x Family without something going amiss and that's certainly the case in CODE: White when Anya eats a piece of chocolate that's very important. Her actions throw her in direct conflict with the military and it'll be up to Loid and her mother Yor, an assassin hiding her skills from her family, to make sure she makes it out of this situation alive. Oh, and did we mention Anya reads minds (her parents don't know!), the Forgers are all keeping secrets from each other, and their dog Bond can see the future? Shenanigans and hilarious cover-ups abound whenever these four are involved.
Mixed in with the action, spycraft, and hand-to-hand combat is a truckload of humor and heart. If you're looking to laugh and get your fix of action-oriented media then this is the movie you and the family need to watch on Thanksgiving. It'll definitely set the joyous tone for the holiday season as we move toward the most wonderful time of the year.
Spy x Family CODE: White is streaming on Crunchyroll. It's rated PG-13 for some violence, language, and smoking. Stay tuned to Americans Undercover for recommendations on what to watch. Follow us on X for more content!
