The Citadel franchise has an action-packed fall for fans of the globe-trotting spy series. October saw the debut of Citadel: Diana, a Milan set thriller that follows the titular operative as she continues to live as a Manticore agent after the fall of her organization. For six episodes we're with Diana as she tries to get out and learn more about the weapon that has fallen in Manticore's possession. The spy drama ended on a cliffhanger so, of course, there's hope for a season 2. But if you, like me, are still craving more from this world, we're in luck. Citadel: Honey Bunny is coming to Prime Video on November 7!

The series takes us back in time to the '90s, making it the first prequel in the franchise. We meet Honey and Bunny when they aren't involved in spy work. Honey is an actress and Bunny is a stuntman. Their chosen professions, however, make them great recruits for the high stakes world of the Citadel universe. As they learn about espionage, and take part in some serious action, the two grow closer but by the time we meet up with them years later, they're estranged. The only thing connecting them is their love for their daughter, Nadia, who they're fighting to protect.

Citadel: Honey Bunny is an Indian spy thriller in Hindi. All six episodes will release on premiere day. Watch the trailer below:

As I mentioned, the third series in the Citadel universe is about the parents of Nadia Sinh. The character is played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the flagship and she's a top operative for Citadel. We don't see her mother in the first season, but Nadia mentions that she's a legacy recruit as her mom was a spy for the organization. As for her father, we do see him. His name is Rahi Gambhir and at this point in his life he's considered to be a terrorist. That's quite a change from being a Citadel agent!

Citadel: Honey Bunny will likely explain how Rahi becomes the man we know from the flagship. His status in the world is in contrast to his personality as he is nothing but loving and sweet to Nadia. She trusts him with her heart aka her daughter Asha, the child she has with Mason Kane, a fellow Citadel spy. Rahi was the one who raised Asha when Nadia was backstopped for eight years and had no memory of the life she led before.

We didn't learn what happened to him when Asha was kidnapped by Dahlia Archer, a broker for Manticore (Citadel's rivals) and Mason's mother. The abduction was violent though so things may not be looking good for Rahi, hopefully we find out in Citadel season 2.

Now you may be thinking, how does a series set in 2030 Italy have anything to do with one that takes place in '90s India. Well, surprisingly, the tech! In the trailer for Citadel: Honey Bunny there's discussion about a system that can track anyone in the world. Sure, that just sounds like a tracer but if you've seen Diana's story then alarm bells are going off because what's being discussed seems like a prototype for Jupiter, the weapon Manticore built from Citadel tech.

40 years removed from the events of Honey and Bunny's story, Manticore will have achieved the unimaginable--a weapon that can be released into a water source and give the agency the ability to know whatever the infected person does. This includes their whereabouts and also, thanks to Manticore Italy's addition to the tech which only they can wield, the power to kill whoever has been infected at the simple press of a button. The weapon shouldn't even exist let alone be in the hands of Manticore. We may see its origins in this spy thriller.

Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu on their roles (per Variety):

"Bunny is unlike any role I’ve played before. As a spy, he not only leads a double life, but every aspect of his personality has two distinct sides, which was very exciting for me as an actor. Intricately woven into the storyline, his portrayal required me to draw on a blend of experiences and characters I’ve embodied over the years, as well as mentally and physically prepare for the grueling stunts and amped-up action scenes, making it one of my most challenging performances yet."

Varun Dhawan

"The opportunity to be part of an action-packed entertainer with a gripping storyline, rich character depth and intense hand-to-hand combat and stunts that rival international standards, along with the prospect to play an integral role in this collection of connected spy stories, is what drew me to this project. The challenges and efforts required to bring Honey to life have left a profound impact on me, both professionally and personally, making it one of the most significant roles of my career."

Major spoilers ahead for Citadel

The Citadel: Honey Bunny cast list gives away that we will see a young Dahlia Archer in this series. The question is in what capacity. We know her as the ruthless UK ambassador who used her position in the world to do Manticore's bidding and get her revenge against Citadel for the death of her husband. The lie she told Mason about taking the information he gave her to the high court is the reason Citadel was nearly wiped out of existence. But she's bound to be different as a young woman, likely someone who wants to do good in the world, so her status as a diplomat wasn't one she gained for power but rather for altruistic reasons. Perhaps, we'll even see Thomas, the man she loves and Mason's father.
