Sure, it's the holiday season now but we still have our eye toward the coming year. 2025 is going to bring with it some great international crime dramas to tune into. We already covered what Netflix has in store for us with both movies and series. Now, we're looking to Disney+ which has announced new shows from Japan.

Among the titles are three series that should meet your viewing needs, dear reader. There's the second season of Gannibal which is a horror crime drama with a side of cannibalism, a new action anime from a Jujutsu Kaisen director about a group of thieves in peril, and a remake of a 40 year old anime that puts a trio of art thieves in the spotlight. Here's more on each series!

Japanese shows to watch on Disney+ (2025)

Gannibal season 2

Premiere date: March 19, 2025

Gannibal's second season returns fans to Kuge in the midst of crisis. Daigo Agawa's horrifying discovery that he'd moved his family to a village inhabited by cannibals continues to spiral in this next installment. More terrible secrets are set to be revealed as Agawa works to take down the Goto clan though doing so seems an impossible task.

Bullet/Bullet

Release window: Summer 2025

From Jujutsu Kaisen director Sunghoo Part comes Bullet/Bullet, an action-packed series that follows a group of thieves for hire. It's not an easy life, as shown in the teaser above, what with getaways being imperative, rocket launchers a part of the equation, and high speed chases but it's a living. A job is a job...until it's not. The team find themselves dealing with more trouble than they bargained for after their latest gig, and that's the catalyst for this crime drama.

Cat's Eye

A remake of the 1980s anime Cat's Eye--based on the manga of the same name by Tsukasa Hojo--will make its debut in 2025. Like the manga, the show will follow three sisters who run a café together during the day but spend their nights stealing art. The series will likely follow the same premise of a detective unknowingly being romantically involved with one of the sisters who happens to be one third of the thief he's trying to catch. She listens to his gripes about work which gives her and her sisters inside information about the police's investigation with no one else the wiser.

Note: The above titles may only be available through Hulu or the Hulu on Disney+ bundle for US residents.
