After waiting for months, the NCIS shows are returning to Monday nights beginning on Oct. 14 and there is so much to prepare for. Not only will this also be the series premiere of NCIS: Origins, but we will get a two-episode premiere as well! This means there will be three hours of NCIS to enjoy come Monday night.

Starting with NCIS, we know that the episode will bring the return of Katrina Law’s Jessica Knight, who may not be with the team, but is still part of the show. She makes her return when she needs help from Parker, who we have seen working with her in the trailer for season 22. In the actual premiere itself, which is titled “Empty Nest,” it does leave us with a little bit of mystery.

The synopsis discusses the team’s search for an undercover agent who went missing during what is described as “an active hostage situation.” There is not much we know about the premiere, other than in the wake of Knight leaving, the team is fractured and the agency has a mole. Agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) has gone undercover in his own dangerous situation while Tim McGee (Sean Murray) looks into opportunities elsewhere to advance his career.

What does this mean for the team going forward? We don’t know exactly how they will come back together. But hopefully, the premiere will answer the burning question of how everyone reunites or begins the process of reuniting. NCIS season 22 premieres at 8/7c.

NCIS' return is the prequel series NCIS: Origins, which follows a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs as he begins working at the NIS field office at Camp Pendelton after the murders of his wife, Shannon, and their daughter, Kelly.

Austin Stowell stars as the young Gibbs while Kyle Schmid plays Agent Mike Franks, the leader of the team who will eventually become Gibbs’s mentor. Not only will there be one episode airing, but there will be two episodes premiering back to back starting at 9/8c.

From what we have seen of the series so far, young Gibbs will be different from the Agent Gibbs that we came to know and love on NCIS. Regardless, it’ll be exciting to get to finally see the beginnings of Gibbs and how his relationships back then formed who he is today.

Mark Harmon will be narrating the series, and we can expect to see him in the series premiere though that may be the only time we see him in front of the camera. But if not, it’ll be a special surprise.

Stay tuned to Americans Undercover for NCIS coverage! Both series will move to their regular time slots on Oct. 21 starting at 9/8c.
