FBI: International boss teases Mitchell and Vo's history as well as a season long arc
We’ve got our first look at Jesse Lee Soffer as the new boss of FBI: International and have some hints about his character and big story arc!
FBI: international fans saw a lot of change in season 3. It kicked off with Jamie Kellett (Heida Reed) departing for a job in D.C. Then Damien Powell (Greg Hovanessian) departed to go back to undercover work. The season finale, "Tuxhorn," then had the biggest exit as team leader Scott Forrester (Luke Kleintank) left the team to help his fugitive mother escape from enemies.
The episode teased Colin O’Donnell joining as agent Briane Lange. However, he was just around for that brief storyline. Instead, as season 4 opens, former Chicago P.D. star Jesse Lee Soffer joins the team as new leader Wes Mitchell.
Speaking to TV Insider, showrunner Matt Olmstead talked about Mitchell and how he and Vo (Vinessa Vidotto) have some interesting history together.
"Mitchell is a former LAPD officer, so he has a little more edge and drive than your usual buttoned-up agent. He’s a no-holds-barred kind of guy and he brings an exciting new energy to the team. He put [Vo] through her paces, which gives them great grist for chemistry as partners. Mitchell is a born leader, so the rest of the team knows they’re in good hands."
Mitchell enters the team's orbit as he's hunting the head of a heist crew who shot Mitchell's partner during an L.A. robbery before fleeing to Budapest. Olmstead teases that Mitchell and the crew leader will lock horns early on and this investigation will play out over the course of the season.
The trailer hints at that and shows how the team feels about Mitchell joining the team.
Is FBI: International addition Wes Mitchell welcome on the Fly Team?
The trailer shows the action as well as Mitchell talking to Vo, Raines (Carter Redwood), Smitty (Eva-Jane Willis) and newbie Amanda Tate (Christina Wolfe). He openly tells them, “It’s awkward at times, being the new guy, especially as the boss, but I’m lucky to be working with you guys, and if it ever goes down, I will absolutely have your back.”
It looks like it takes as the team welcomes Mitchell on. He and Vo working together well, and the trailer ends with Raines declaring, “Let’s rock and roll.”
We don’t yet see Jay Hayden, as the Station 19 star is set for an arc as agent Tyler Booth. However, it looks like Soffer is sliding right into his new role and the new boss is ready to take FBI: International to exciting new heights.
FBI: International season 4 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 9/8c on CBS. Next day streaming will be available on Paramount+. Stay tuned to Americans Undercover for coverage of the FBI franchise. For more articles about Law Enforcement Dramas, click here.
