The NCIS shows won't air new episodes next week, here's what to expect when they return!

We'll be without Mike Franks' moustache for a week.
“All’s Not Lost” – Still grieving the loss of his wife and daughter, Gibbs helps the team work a case involving a missing girl. The moment that irrevocably changed Gibbs’ life is revealed, on NCIS: ORIGINS, Monday, Oct. 28 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. The NCIS shows are going to hit their first hiatus of the 2024-2025 television on Monday, Nov. 18. As such, we can't count on new episodes with our intrepid teams. In fact, CBS' entire Monday line-up won't be new. While we can't confirm that this is due to the Making of Gladiator II special set to air at 10:30 p.m. ET that night, it's likely that is the case, hence NCIS: Origins skipping the week.

Fans of the flagship, however, can anticipate a rerun of season 21 episode 8, "Heartless," at 9 p.m. The case of the week centers on a heart surgeon who is kidnapped and then dies. The team will be sussing out the motive behind the abduction (check out our sister site Hidden Remote's recap!). Here's a quick look at the network's schedule for Monday, Nov. 18.

CBS schedule for Nov. 18

Times in ET

The Neighborhood 7x01 - "Welcome to the Neighborhood, Daphne"

8-8:30 p.m.

Poppa's House - "Pilot"

8:30-9 p.m.

NCIS 21x08 - "Heartless"

9-10 p.m.

The Neighborhood 7x02 - "Welcome to the Big Sleep"

10-10:30 p.m.

The Making of Gladiator II

10:30-11 p.m.

While fans of the franchise are in for a wait for new episodes, the wait is going to be well worth it as the return episodes are definitely going to be ones you don't want to miss! Let's dive into what you can expect.

What's next on NCIS?

NCIS will treat us to a Jessica Knight-centric episode on Monday, Nov. 25 at 9 p.m. ET. How do we know? Look at that episode title!

"Knight and Day" will see the team involved in a case that's focused on the wife of the most powerful defense contractor in the United States. Of course, she used to be connected to the mob, or still is if you ask Parker, and that's what makes this case extra dangerous but Knight has it covered. The promo includes her and the woman the team is protecting, throwing down in a fight that Torres and McGee roll up on seeing the ladies handled the situation themselves. It looks like 22x06 is going to be a fun ride.

What's next on NCIS: Origins?

While NCIS looks like it's going to be a good time, NCIS: Origins is going to give us pain on Monday, Nov. 25 at 10 p.m. In "One Flew Over," which seems like a reference to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest so this will be a mental health episode for sure, Mike and Gibbs seem to be at odds. Enough so that Gibbs punches him.

It's unclear what causes the conflict but it's obvious the young agent is struggling and it's possible Mike is letting him take it out on him as there's a flash of him holding Gibbs as he cries. Context clues suggest that we're doing another dive into Gibbs' journey through grief as he continues to process life without his wife and daughter in the aftermath of their murder. As Mike says in the teaser, "There's no rhyme or reason for what people think a life is worth," and that's a heavy truth to reconcile.

Still, since Mike has seen Gibbs claw his way to a healthier mindset, he knows that his probie has come a long way. But the journey will remain rough. That's something he was frank about with Gibbs when he told him that he's seen people slip back toward the suicidal ideations they'd once had. It's the reason he's kept a close eye on him and has tried to help Gibbs grab onto purpose in the NIS to buoy him against the darkness that loss can pull you into.
